One more loss from the groove yard. CARL PERKINS was at SUN RECORDS in Memphis just before ELVIS and had a million selling hit with BLUE SUEDE SHOES. Until the King's arrival he was SAM PHILLIP's biggest act, but Presley's persona absolutely eclipsed Carl's, a modest not very attractive country boy, as you will see in the video from the old Perry Como show.
Through out his life he felt like he had been deprived of the fame and fortune he deserved, although he continued to have a dedicated following, especially with guitarists like ERIC CLAPTON, who found wonder in his three finger technique, and he saw himself inducted into the R&R HALL OF FAME in the class of 1987. As Carl would say, "Go Cat Go." @TheRealDonRocks
