Lovely Linda Had A Stone Pony

You may not know that before she became one of the biggest female songsters in the country, lovely LINDA RONSTADT, was in a band with a hit record; THE STONE PONEYS and a great song written by MIKE NESMITH called, DIFFERENT DRUM. The first time I heard it I knew that Little Girl was going to be a big Star.

Looking for something else, I found this clip of the Stone Poneys performing live at what might be The Troubadour in Hollywood in 1967. She would have been just 21 at this time, and in the ensuing years would win more awards than I can possibly list here, but including: 11 Grammys and induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2014 and then the National Medal of Arts and Humanities. Ms Ronstadt grew up in Tucson and had a pony as a little girl that she'd ride around the desert, I don't know if the band name refers to that. As time goes on we'll drop in many more of Linda's recordings. @therealdonrocks
