How about something completely different in the Roots of Rock bag? The names of the great BLUES singers often were colorful or amusing, and so it was with MUDDY WATERS, one of the masters of the form. Fans of the BLUES BROTHERS, will find the original versions of the songs done by JOHN BELUSHI and DAN AYKROYD, in the history of the Blues.
[Editor's note: Muddy Waters was supposed to appear in The Blues Brothers movie, shot in Chicago. Director John Landis says Muddy was sick the day they shot the scene, and couldn't appear. John Lee Hooker took his place onscreen, backed up by Muddy's associates Willie Big Eyes Smith and Walter Horton, among others. – Jacqui]
One of the Mud Man's biggest hits was called, GOT MY MOJO WORKING, and we're fortunate to have a video of him doing that on Canadian TV in 1966. Probably because of the age of the clip, although it looks really good and the sound is great, is the slight off-sync of the vocal. Don't let that stop you from watching it though, the Mouth Harp Player alone is incredible, and Muddy in the way of the day, sings and plays sitting down, something I ran into later with B.B. KING. See if it gets Your Mojo working. @therealdonrocks
