Scott told me that SHARON JONES passed away at the Toronto Film Festival where her a Documentary of her life was being screened on Election Night 2016. Who was she? Sharon was often called the "Female James Brown." She and her band THE DAP KINGS, got credit for bringing Soul/Funk music back to the Charts after she released her first album at age 40; and in 2014 she was nominated for a Grammy for her album, "Give the People What They Want."
The film about her concentrates on how she continued to perform while the cancer grew progressively worse, she was defiant, refused to wear a wig and performed bald from the chemo. Sharon Jones died on November 18, 2016, she was 60 years old. But let's roll the tape back a bit and see her live with the Dap Kings doing "Stranger To My Happiness," in living color and pristine sound. Believe me it is worth a listen and view, she was sensational. @therealdonrocks
