Meet Hit Songwriter Otis Blackwell

Singer/songwriter, OTIS BLACKWELL wrote a lot of big hit songs including: Great Balls of Fire and Breathless, both hits for Jerry Lee Lewis, Handy Man for Jimmy Jones, Fever which was a hit for both Little Willie John and Peggy Lee (what a combo) and Don't Be Cruel and Return to Sender for The King, plus many more.

I used to see his name on the record labels, but didn't know much about him or seen him perform. But we all can now, Scott also found a video of Mr. Blackwell on the Letterman Show doing, Don't Be Cruel. Fun Fact: The flip side of Elvis' recording of Don't Be Cruel, was another Hit, Heartbreak Hotel. There haven't been many double sided hit singles in history, and this was a big one. A lady that worked at a Record Distributor at the time, told me that they were ordering records by the hundreds and then thousands, faster then RCA could make them.
